Here is the general list of 'bright as you can get for under $1,500' and is what you should be looking at. It's great to aim for the stars, but when your budget affords you bottle rockets, it's a lot more realistic to be happy to aim for a more general skyward direction. Now, if you want the most from your setup, several cheaper projectors and a lot of work on the setup may be decent, but I would shoot for individualized projectors for each member and work within the scope of expectations that are dictated by the budget. When major concerts roll around, they are using $80,000+ projection setups, and sometimes using multiple projectors along with LED walls which can run hundreds of thousands of dollars. You want a light canon and you want to remember that it will only be able to handle about 100" or so diagonal at the absolute most if there are any additional lights in the environment which is must compete with. Unless you are in a theater, nothing else matters.
